ACCOUNTS OF THE ABSINTHE ” GREEN HOUR ” CONGREGATION TOKYO
A long long time ago , in the days before absinthe had been prohibited , ladies and gentlemen would indulge in a cafe the joy of “ GREEN HOUR ” after a long day of labour

Absinthe Ritual – GREEN HOUR TOKYO
Since in Japan the absinthe drinking culture is still not so well known. At the beginning everyone was timid to approach the counter and do the absinthe ritual by themselves but after a couple of glasses everyone started to be masters of using the absinthe fountain .

Songs like LA FEE VERT (by FRANCIS MARTY ) , LA FOLIE VERT ( by D’HORAN ) , L’ABSINTHE ( by Barbara ) and others to give a little inspiration as Barbara says in her song :
On a bu de l’ absinthe,
Comme on boirait de l’ eau,
Et je t’ aime, je t’ aime,
Oh mon dieu, que c’ est beau,
Bien plus beau qu’ un poème,
De Verlaine ou de Rimbaud…

The surprise of the night was the “ TOKYO HANDMADE ABSINTHE FOUNTAIN CONTEST ” . The level of the competitors were quite high which made quite difficult to decide who was the winner .
この夜、” 東京、手作りアブサン ファウンテン コンテスト”が開催されました。
参加者は非常にレベルが高く、誰が優勝者かを決めるのは難しかったのでした。
Tokyo Absinthe Fountain Contest 2011
We had 4 candidates :
CONTESTANT ONE: BIRD #1: A simple design made of easily obtainable parts. The piece de resistance for the home absinteur. CLASSIC.
CONTESTANT TWO: TRIPOD: Inspired by an absinthe bar-b-que in which plastic bottles were the only available source of water, this fountain represents the heart of a wild absinthe outdoorsman. Light, portable, and highly dangerous – a classy way to start the party anywhere you may find yourself.
CONTESTANT THREE: ǝɥʇuısuɐɯ: Created by a motorcycle enthusiast, this fountain is made up of welded together bike parts and a intimidating haphazardly broken absinthe bottle. Built to last, it is the quintessential rocknroller of absinthe fountains.
CONTESTANT FOUR: BIDET: This mysterious green housing has at its core two plastic ketchup-type bottles – one containing absinthe and one containing water. Like a miniature vending machine, both liquids can be dispensed into the glass underneath. The device is adorned with original artwork portraying the green fairy herself.
