(English readers please see below).親愛なる塹壕(Trench)の中の同志たちへ、
ありがとう5月3日、ASIA’S 50 BEST BARS 2018の発表がありました。
毎年、たくさんの力のある新店が続々とオープンする中、TRENCHは3年連続のベスト50入り、今回は過去最高の16位の結果でした。本当に素晴らしいニュースとともに8周年のアニバーサリーを迎えることができました。お客様、チームのみんな、僕等の友人、支えていただいた方々に心から感謝いたします。ありがとうございます。
スタッフ一同、さらなる高みを目指して精進していく所存です。TRENCHはちょうど8年前、恵比寿の寂しい裏通りにひっそりとオープンしました。インディペンデントなわずか13席の小さな手作りのバーは、祝福されず、なかなか理解されない逆境の日々の連続でした。しかし、僕等はそんな時を経て、少しづつ学び、成長し、ゆっくりではありながらも、確かに歩を進めてきました。そして、ついに星の数ほどあるバーの中でトップ20にランキングされたということは、厳しかった日々を思い出すと奇跡だと感じます。

”Bar”が生活の一部にある人生はより豊かなものになる”という信念と、いつか、東京を代表する一番の店を作ろうという夢を胸に日々の営業を重ねてきました。

これからも店を通して、奇跡は起こせるものだし、小さな斧(スモールアックス)でも鋭く刃を研げば、大木をも切り倒すことができる、ということを身をもって証明し、それが誰かを奮い立たせ、勇気づける助けとなれたら幸いです。

今までも、これからも、みなさんなくして僕等の存在はありません。本当にありがとうございます。

それではいつものように、またお店でお会いできることを楽しみにしています。

Thank you to dear fellows in trenches

On the 3rd of May there was an announcement of Asia’s 50 best bars of 2018.Bar Trench, alongside many other newly opened and influential bars, has been ranked in the top 50 for the last three consecutive years. This year we have been ranked 16th!

We are extremely happy to celebrate this wonderful news coinciding with our 8th year anniversary.We would like to thank all our customers, our team, our friends and our supporters, and will continue to endeavour to rise even higher.

8 years ago, Bar Trench opened discreetly in a quiet back street of Ebisu. In the early years our small thirteen seat independently run DIY bar, without acknowledgement or recognition, began learning, growing and thriving. Improving slowly but surely.

It now seems miraculous recalling those difficult early days, that we are now in the top 20, amongst as many bars as there are stars in the sky.

These years were spent with the principle “Bars enrich your life” we hold to this belief and our continuing ambition is to make Bar Trench the N0.1 bar in Tokyo.We hope to prove no matter how small a business, that through hard work and dedication to your beliefs that miracles can happen. A small axe can cut down a large tree if the blade is sharp enough, and we hope through our achievements this will inspire and encourage others to do the same.

So far,now and in years to come, we are nothing without YOU.
