Hard time with absinthe Sugar-Cubes

We live in a time that everything must be fast . Nobody wants to loose a single precious second . Technology is the development , and for those that doesn’t follow that track are old-fashioned . Do we really need to go so fast like that ?
Thanks to the technology we are able to enjoy our absinthe with the sugar-cubes wrapped with paper , spoons , fountains and make the absinthe ritual slowly slowly , like the old times …slowly…enjoying drip by drip …
Well , where I want to get is about the sugar . Now is quite easy to get those wrapped sugar-cubes ( maybe sugar-cubes is getting rare nowdays too…) , in cafes , restaurants ,etc . But in the 19th century (right on the absinthe belle-epoque ) in Europe , sugar were sold in loafs between 2kg up to 10kg ( sugar loafs ) . Maybe all the cafes and restaurants had hard time just to make those sugar-cubes . Sometimes we see in some old pictures people drinking absinthe with quite a big size sugar , and sometimes 2 or 3 pieces . I wonder how long does it take to make all those cubes .
On the picture above you can see that they needed a kind of scissors to cut it . It is a big work and it takes a couple of minutes to the sugar disappear in your coffee or absinthe glass . In this point of view , thanks technology for making us a easy way to get the sugar .But I will keep trying to make my absinthe slowly slowly …listening the drops of the water in my glass …
…The way it goes nowdays I hope the time of absinthe fastfood style doesn’t arrive …imagine getting your absinthe glass in 30 seconds like some hamburger’s shops…
